GSE136417: Maternal exposure to a mitochondrial toxicant results in life-long alterations in DNA methylation and gene expression in the offspring

Bulk RNA sequencing

We exposed dams to rotenone starting 2 weeks prior to conception all the way to the end of lactation to determine its effects on the DNA methylation landscape of the offspring. We find that this treatment not only affects the DNA methylation status in one locus in the skin (both doses were studied here) but the entire DNA methylome of the liver is also changed (only lower dose was analyzed). The effects last throughout the lifespan of the animals and are accompanied by changes in the transcriptome. SOURCE: Janine Santos (janine.santos@nih.gov) - NIEHS
